Community Giving

Community Giving

The Santa Cruz Waldorf is deeply appreciative of the support we receive from families, friends, alumni, and local and national businesses. Each contribution represents a commitment to the quality education our school provides our children – the future of our local and global communities.

Fundraising

The Santa Cruz Waldorf School has three major fundraising efforts. Each of these efforts are sustained through the generosity of families at our school, as well as extended families, friends, alumni, and local and national supporters of our specific school and Waldorf education. All donations in any amount are deeply appreciated.

Annual Giving Campaign
Financial support received through this annual campaign sustains the school’s general fund which is used to support the unique educational curriculum our children participate in, including visual and language arts, gardening, music, and sports. Funds also go towards the maintenance of our beautiful campus and for general school administration. Annual Giving Page

SCWS Annual Dinner and Dance

The next event will be held Saturday November 13th from 5:00pm – 10:00pm at the Holy Cross Hall on Mission Hill in Santa Cruz. Scrip Program
We are very fortunate to have a thriving scrip program. This program provides the school with thousands of dollars of funding each year through donations made by local and national merchants. We are proud to have a 18 local scrip supporters: Beverly's, Bookshop Santa Cruz, Boony Doon Vineyard & The Cellar Door, The Buttery, Coffeetopia, General Feed and Seed, Golden Fleece, Greenspace, Kelly's French Bakery, Marini's, New Leaf, Palace Art Supply, Petroglyph's, Pizza My Heart, Staff of Life, Ugly Mug, and Whole Foods. We are grateful for the generous support of these local businesses and to our family and friends who support both SCWS and these businesses through participating in our scrip program.

Giving Back to Our Santa Cruz & International Communities

Second Harvest Food Bank
We have partnered with Second Harvest Food Bank which supports their agency and provides our students and families with opportunities to learn about and make direct positive impacts for families in need within our community. The SCWS participated in the 2010 Human Race raising over $6,000 in support of the important services this agency provides. For more information on Second Harvest Food Bank, please visit their website at www.secondharvest.net.

Sister Schools
We are blessed to be part of a well-established and well-nurtured school in Santa Cruz and feel happy to pass on our blessings to an association of fledgling Waldorf preschools in the rural shanty towns of Cape Town , South Africa. Our Sister Schools are named Isiseko Sobuntu which means Foundation of Humanity in their Xkosa language.

Each year raise money at various events such as the Winter and May Fairs. We also have an annual Strawberry Shortcake sale at the end-of-the year Picnic. If you would like to learn more about these learning communities and their work, visit www.cfce.org.za/solidarity/isIntro_sol.html and join the Sister School Committee.
