DESCRIPTION

LEMONTREE PRESS is proud to introduce you to LMNOP. Written and illustrated by longstanding Waldorf teachers Howard Schrager and Bruce Bischof, this alphabet is of the highest quality in both picture and verse; one worthy to serve as an introduction to a child's formal language learning. Educators have praised its rich phonic content. In the tradition of Mother Goose and Dr. Seuss, the rhymes are fun to learn by heart. Yet LMNOP earnestly seeks to display a full range of qualities for each letter and the sound it makes.

IN THIS IMAGINATIVE APPROACH each letter is introduced by way of a picture - a picture which incorpo-rates the shape of the letter. The illustrations are related to the content of the poems, and both suggest further imaginings, or even stories that child and parent can play with. We were very inspired by the story of a boy who "never could sit still" who, in the midst of a crowded Christmas morning present opening, sat and peacefully read LMNOP from cover to cover.

Even students in secondary school are captivated by LMNOP. Perhaps because the alphabet is so familiar to them they want to see what can be done with it. I have seen wonderful alphabets created by teenagers in language arts lessons on poetry using LMNOP as a springboard. A four page introduction explains to parents and teachers how LMNOP can be used as an effective teaching tool.

Recommended for children ages 4-9.
